01Who we are

Geopolitiks is a real-time grand strategy game made and sold by Geopolitiks, a sole proprietorship based in South Africa ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@geopolitiks.site.

By creating an account, buying, downloading or playing the game you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the game. The free demo is covered by these terms too.

02Your licence

When you buy the game or a DLC, you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and play it on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You are buying a licence to play the game. You do not own the software.

The licence covers the game as it exists now and the updates we release for it. Each DLC or edition has its own licence and needs the base game.

03What you may not do

• Copy, sell, rent, lend, share or redistribute the game, its installer, or any DLC files.
• Share your account or sign-in details, or let others play on your licence.
• Bypass, remove or interfere with the licence checks, sign-in, activation or encryption of the game or its DLC.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or extract the game's code or content, except where the law gives you that right and only to the extent it does.
• Use cheats, exploits or tools to gain an unfair advantage in any online feature, such as leaderboards, or to harm our servers.
• Use the game or our services for anything unlawful.

04Your account

You need an account to download and play the game. Give us a correct email address and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has got into it, tell us straight away at support@geopolitiks.site.

Each account can be used on up to 3 devices. You can remove a device on your account page to free a slot, so that one purchase is not shared with many people.

05Licence checks and offline play

The game checks with our servers that your account owns it. This happens when you sign in and each time you start the game while online. Once checked, the game keeps working offline for up to 14 days. After that it needs to connect to the internet once to check again. Single-player play does not otherwise need a connection.

06Prices, purchases and DLC

The price you pay is the price shown at checkout, including any taxes that apply to you. Payments are handled by our payment provider, and your purchase is also subject to that provider's terms. We never see or store your full card details.

Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy. Planned DLC and release dates shown on the site are plans and may change.

07Updates and changes to the game

We may update the game to fix bugs, improve balance, add content or keep it working on new systems. We may also change or retire online features, such as leaderboards, with reasonable notice where we can. We will not take away content you have bought without refunding you for it.

08Your saves, videos and streams

Your saved games and settings belong to you and are stored on your own device. You are welcome to record, stream and share videos and screenshots of the game, including on monetised channels. We only ask that you do not present your content as an official Geopolitiks product.

09Intellectual property

The game, its code, art, music, writing, data and name are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms give you a licence to play, not any ownership. The map data and country names are a game design and are not statements about any real-world political position.

10Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. This includes your right to a game that works and is of good quality.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows: the game is provided "as is"; we do not promise it will be free of errors or always available; and our total liability to you for any claim about the game is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for gross negligence or fraud.

11Ending this agreement

You can stop using the game at any time and uninstall it. We may suspend or end your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law stops us. If we end your licence without a good reason, we will refund what you paid for what you lose.

12Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when we add features. We will post the new version here with a new date. If a change matters to your rights, we will tell you by email or in the game. Continuing to use the game after a change means you accept it.

13Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. If we cannot settle a problem by talking, South African courts have jurisdiction. As a consumer you can also take a complaint to the National Consumer Commission or another body the law gives you access to.
